The Merriam Webster dictionary defines the "Social Sciences" as a branch of science that deals with the institutions and functioning of human society and with the interpersonal relationships of individuals as members of society.  The term "Social Sciences" is commonly used as an umbrella term to refer to a number of fields including but not limited to anthropology, archaeology, business, communication, economics, education, linguistics, international relations, political science and psychology.  Below is a sample list of projects UROP has sponsored in the past we consider to be within the realm of "Social Sciences."
